Minisode 53: Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

With it being the holidays and everything I figured I could give you all a small gift, that being a Minisode! And for once it actually lives up to the name, definitely the shortest I have done in a long time. And on top of the review I do a short follow up to Toradora!, an anime I talked about way back on Minisode 13. Enjoy the show!

Yeah there's a lot going on on this show, but there also isn't. I try to be as spoiler free as possible with my review of Rogue One. And yeah as you hear in the show I lose track of how many trailers I do for this show. Well I can't think of anything else to pad this out so I'll wrap it up. Enjoy the show!

Had I not been lazy on my couple days away from work I might have seen a second film, but since I didn't you all only get one. *Insert evil laugh* As such what is up above is pretty much what you getting for this show. Lately I have been putting the Trailer Spots in between the news and I feel it helps break things up a little bit. Hopefully you all feel the same. Well enjoy the show!

Trailer Spot: xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Beauty and the Beast, Ghost in the Shell

Opening and Closing Song: Lone Digger by Caravan Palace

The review is actually relevant for once! Or more relevant than usual at the very least. As promised two episodes ago, as you can see, is the xXx trailer and then there are a couple other trailers I felt were worth talking about. As I explain in show there is no box office because I am currently up to date and if I get to see Bleed for This I should have another show in tow. Well enjoy!

Opening and Closing Song: G.I Jive by Johnny Mercer

Everyone welcome Josh to the show, it's his first and hopefully not last appearance. It was tons of fun to just B.S. while talking about movies. And while I realize that there was no news I do have something planned in the interim that could very well happen in the near future. And by that I mean another episode because I do have a movie in reserve, or I could be awesome and review Fantastic Beasts at the same time and the review could be semi-relevant for once. Well enough of the pointless typing, I hope you enjoy the show!

Yeah don't listen to me about the Trailer Spot, I lied. Or rather I spoke the truth and then went back on my word. But as you can see while you are reading this, even without the trailer this week the show crested an hour. So hopefully for those of you that had your hopes set on xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, keep those hopes up for next week when I get to it.

Opening and Closing Song: Stompbox by The Qemists

I have the perfect alternative of the final debate, ignoring the fact that it is already over. (Thank God.) But assuming that someone has the ability to go back into the past and somehow having this episode available this would be the perfect alternative. But if you don't have time travel abilities you'll just have to make do with the erratic release schedule. At this point I'm just glad I made the time and used my nights to get this recorded and edited for you all. Enjoy the show!

Episode 340: The Girl on the Train

Trailer Spot: John Wick Chapter 2

Opening and Closing Song: I Apologize by Five Finger Death Punch

Another random song, didn't want to risk getting sued by whoever owns the rights to all of The Beatles songs. I actually considered using a hard rock song for the last episode but I figured it was better not too. Anyways two episodes in one day, if only I could do that all the time. Then again I would need to be employed in a way where I get paid but don't actually do anything...ah my dream job. *Shakes head* But I digress I know The Girl on the Train was the big winner this weekend so it only felt appropriate to review it, hopefully you enjoy my take on it. Episode 339: Sully

Review(s): Sully, My Many Sons

Trailer Spot: Power Rangers, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Opening and Closing Song: The Story by Coldrain

I had the damnedest time finding a song for this round, there was one song from Sully but it was nothing noteworthy but if you look at the other movie I review I don't think there was a "soundtrack" to speak of. So yes this song was completely random and I wanted this released instead of looking through an infinite number of songs to find that right song for this show. Opening and Closing Song: I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) by Meat Loaf

I was going to post a rhetorical question but upon giving it a seconds worth of thought I realized that my logic was far from sound. So having said that I don't know what else I should do to fill in this space so that it looks like there is important stuff here. As you can see above I have two irrelevant reviews one more than the other. I'm trying to make a renewed effort to talk about some of the movies this fall in the Trailer Spot so that way maybe I'll find a hidden gem or two or at least something that looks halfway ok. Remember people feel free to ask for me to review something, this is a good time to do that. And as always enjoy the show!

Episode 336: FFJ

Review: Florence Foster Jenkins

Opening and Closing Song: Adele's Laughing Song by Florence Foster Jenkins

Have you ever wanted to be a singer, to sing in front of people, without fear of being made fun of? But maybe your voice just wasn't up to snuff? Well the movie that I review is the story of Florence Foster Jenkins who is known for not being a particularly great singer. But her spirit and passion for music is what kept her going despite her blissful ignorance to her own singing voice. It's a good and somewhat good and sometimes sad story. As I said in my review this film is probably going to be big for an older crowd but if you appreciate movies outside of mainstream Hollywood this is actually a good option for you.

Minisode 52: A Boy, A Girl, A Beast, and a Psycho-Pass

Review(s): Psycho-Pass: The Movie, The Boy and the Beast, Little Witch Academia, and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Opening and Closing Song: Xenogenesis by TheFatRat

I realize the song choice is not anime related, however, since I decided to do all anime movies for this round there were no songs that I wanted to pick from. I could have reused the them song from Psycho-Pass but decided against it. Most because I'm already repetitive enough without using the same songs.

Opening and Closing Song: Jump by Van Halen

Have you ever had a dream and life just got in the way to make sure that didn't happen? Well here is the story of a man who defied the odds and made it to the Olympics back in 1988. The story of the Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards is an interesting one, as I mention in the show I believe that the movie is probably highly fictionalized but still an entertaining piece of movie. After my review of said movie I bring the Box Office Report and the news, mixed in with a Trailer Spot. Enjoy the show!

Episode 333: Suicide Squad

Review(s): Suicide Squad

Opening Song: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap by AC/DC

Closing Song: Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

Are they the worst heroes ever? Well by all rights they weren't heroes to begin with, but I would say in recent memory the folks that made the lovely adaptation of Fantastic 4 probably deserve the award for worst heroes ever...at least for right now. The titular suicide squad are definitely bad guys that are brought in to do something good and that's about all you need to know. The plot is a tad muddled after the 30 minute introductions, so as the audience we understand what is supposed to happen but the movie realizes it is driving and decides to take a different route. That being said they have two parts that are meant to be shocking that come off as a big question mark since you don't understand why the characters are reacting that way. Otherwise it is a fun little film, not among my favorites but I would see it again.

I'm a bit under a time crunch so I'll upload the incomplete version for right now and come back to finish the edit on Monday. I decided to change the title just based on how the recording went, to hell with structure this was a lot more interesting and fun to make. We get around to reviewing some movies but we definitely take the scenic route this week...Oh and I brought along a couple friends to co-host this week. Opening and Closing Song: My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) by En Vogue

An accountant and a CIA secret agent on the run. A man disillusioned by war and the effects thereof, begins to wage war on the very people he once fought with...Sounds kind of epic doesn't it. It helps when you only type in one line to sum up each movie. You might be asking why, and I can honestly say I don't know I just felt like doing that. Mostly to pad the description out until I felt there was enough there to stop. Minisode 51: My Hero Academia

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the world was filled with superheroes? Well in this anime superheroes are commonplace as people around the world learn that they each have their own unique ability. But not our main character as he is one of the unlucky ones that genetics screwed over. But that doesn't keep him down as he still dreams of one day becoming a hero...You know that wasn't a half-bad intro in my opinion. Yes that is just the vague beginning to the main series that I review this week, My Hero Academia. I also decided to review Blood Blockade Battlefront and had just as much of a harder time saying it as I did typing it just now. I will admit the review is unintentionally vague that is due in part to how long it has been since I watched the show in full.

Episode 326: Now You See Me Out of the Shadows

Review(s): Now You See Me 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

Opening and Closing Song: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) Theme Song

As complete counter programming to the NBA Finals I bring out two things that really couldn't compete with it if they tried. Not to knock either one of the two features but you know that it's not going to happen. Speaking of the NBA who are you rooting for? At this point I'm indifferent but I picked Golden State, made the most sense. Gotta get a kick out of the fair-weather or band-wagoners out there I wonder if that would happen if Cleveland were to win? Nonetheless I have prattled on long enough, enjoy the show!

Episode 325: Through the Looking Glass

Review: Alice Through the Looking Glass

Opening and Closing Song: Just Like Fire by Pink

Time is not on my side today, ironically enough the movie I review this week covers how time is a he and is fairly indifferent to a person's problems. I don't go that in depth about time's indifference mostly because the movie doesn't. Still the movie wasn't too bad all things considered. I might add some more to this later. Enjoy the show!

Episode 324: Apocalypse

Review(s): X-Men: Apocalypse, Money Monster

Opening and Closing Song: Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics (I am aware I've used this song before but if you have seen the new X-Men you will understand my choice of song)

Have you felt it? There has been an awakening and his name is oddly enough not Apocalypse. I kid you not I don't think he his called by that name the entire movie. The stakes are ever higher in this one as our favorite mutants are pitted against each other in a battle that concerns the whole world. Which I'm pretty sure is almost every X-Men movie. And then there is Money Monster a thriller of sorts that had potential and kind of just left it lying there. Aside from those movies I bring the Box Office Report and the news. It was a little bit of catch up but I managed to do it. I hope you enjoy the show!

Opening and Closing Song: Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes

Tell me do you like Pina Colada's? How do you feel about buddy cop films? How would you feel if you could remember up to a certain point in your history and then could not have any new memories? I'm starting to run out of semi-relevant questions to pad out the description? Maybe I should just end every sentence with a question mark? Maybe it'll get annoying? This is a good exercise to see if people actually read this. Gotta love when I upload this at the end of my day versus part way through the day. Well in any case enjoy the show!

I'm trying to think of something witty to type in here but I really don't have much this morning, sorry I didn't release this soon enough. I was pretty much trying to make time to see The Huntsman, not because I really wanted to see it but rather so I could review it. Funnily enough I kind of ended up relenting my score similar to when I reviewed Snow White and the Huntsman. Opening and Closing Song: Glory by Common and John Legend

With all of this political correctness that is going on, I feel like a person has to tip toe around saying certain things. And I feel like by being "PC" that it impedes my ability to review a movie to the best of said abilities. So if the reviews feel off that's part of the reason.

Your biggest question coming from the title is: Does the mecha in fact rise? Well I can tell you for certain this show does not answer that question. What I can answer is what exactly I did last weekend at this year's Anime Detour. If you want an explanation look no further than the beginning, if you've wanted to go to an anime convention look no further this is a great way to hear what exactly goes on from one anime fan's view. There is a lot of anime for this round isn't there? Well it is the culmination of a couple months were of anime viewing for me, and I'm happy to release this with some older anime and some more recent. There was a Minisode that I had released sometime in 2011 that is similar to this is some respects and that is what I was aiming for here. There is no Trailer Spot this week, mostly because I couldn't think of any ones that had released recently that was worth noting. Nonetheless that is the show that I bring you all this week and I hope you enjoy the show!
